From here to here: du sel sur la neige is an installation which seeks to express the idea of migration and multiple places of home through a sense of vulnerability, temporality, non-groundedness and stillness. Three hundred sheets of tissue paper, not one identical to another, are suspended, providing on initial glance a rather muted façade of various densities. Salt is dispersed across the gallery, anchoring the work temporarily to its surroundings. A sculpted ingress invites one to enter, revealing a space carved out by the tissue paper – a space which architecturally compresses and extends to accommodate viewers as they explore the effect of the laminations of tissue paper, its density, light porosity and movement.
