Space Division is a boutique architectural practice that aims to positively impact the lives and environment of its clients and their communities by purposefully producing quality space. We believe our name reflects both the essence of what we do, but also how we strive to do it – succinctly and simply. Our design process is inclusive and client focused with their desires, physical constraints, budgets, time frames, compliance and construction processes all carefully considered and incorporated into our designs. Space Division has successfully applied this approach to a broad range of project types within the field of architecture, ranging from commercial developments, urban infrastructure to baches, playhouses and residential homes. Space Divisions team is committed to delivering a very personal and complete service to each of their clients, at each stage of the process.  To assist in achieving this Space Division collaborates with a range of trusted technical specialists, based on the specific needs of our client. Which ensures we stay focussed, passionate agile and easily scalable.

Marc Lithgow BArch Hons BAS ANZIA Registered Architect Certified Passive House Designer

Marc is a registered architect with over 15 years working experience. Marc’s career includes time at Andre Hodgkin Architects and Architectus Auckland. During this time Marc has worked with a wide range of clients and on a of significant projects such as Waitakere Central Library, New Lynn Train Station, AMI Stadium and Waitakere Civil Defence Headquarters. Marc founded Space Division in 2010. Marc has significant experience in brief and design development, client and stakeholder group liaison, and the co-ordination of the project consultants. He has successfully administered projects once on site, and project architect on a number of significant commercial and residential projects for a wide range of clients and budgets.  

Sophie Hermann BAS BArch MA&D Registered Architect

Sophie completed her Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Auckland and has worked for architectural practices both locally in Auckland (Architectus) and internationally in Switzerland (Giorla & Trautmann Architectes), before joining Space Division in 2014. Sophie completed a Master of Art and Design at AUT University in 2014, with a focus in the Visual Arts in installation and sculpture. Sophie’s art and architectural practice stems from a particular interest and investigation into site, context, spatial experience and the overlap between the languages of architecture, art and landscape.
